Guitar Solo Question!?!?!?!?

I have been playing guitar for two years now at church and have always been afraid to play guitar solos for one reason we don't have a rhythm guitarist. We have drums, b and me the guitarist. So my question is how hard is it to play a guitar solo without rhythm guitar. I mean is it I see people like the edge from U2 and Lincoln Brewster they do it all the time. Can you please help me out?
